Just embrace it
It's January in Cleveland! We're in the middle of a snow storm here and having a good time with it. I was supposed to go on a temple trip today down in Columbus with the youth but it was cancelled, so instead we made chocolate chip cookies, played in the snow, and Chase shoveled. The other day I told Chase I am so ready for summer, and we have months left of snow, so I'm sucking it up and just embracing it. I'm going to be brainstorming as much as my brain will allow for things to do in the snow, or fun things to do inside. Let me know if you have any great ideas! Tyler just came downstairs to tell Halle that they are headed out again to play for the second time , and Chase is headed out to shovel for the third time! Halle opted out this time to watch Barbie and the Diamond Castle...she loves that movie:)
How many times have I said "Don't eat the snow, it's gross!"
Halle is so coordinated with her snow attire, whatever works right? Can you even see big girl?

Oh my goodness! What a fun day :). I would love to see your list of fun things to do inside when you get it compiled. It's not as cold here, but compared to Arizona winters it's been a big change. We like play-doh, the wii, reading books, playing games, and when i'm feeling patient we bake :).
Wow, it looks like you are getting lots of snow. I bet Tyler and Halle loved the excuse to make cookies and Chase loved the results.
Oh Boy! I'm with you...bring on the warm weather! How ever it is fun and funny to see the kids in their snow gear...Gracie and Brynlee can barely move in theirs but it doesn't stop them from wanting to go outside. I think you need to post your list of ideas when you get it finished so we can all benefit from your brainstorming. I hate to admit it but my kids have been watching lots of movies lately:( I wish I could send Jake over to your place to plow your snow...he literally spends hours plowing the neighborhood with his 4 wheeler every time it snows, tell Chase he's the man for shoveling all that:)!
You are so good to get them dressed up for the snow! We have so missed the snow and yet are way too lazy to go out in it! One of our new favorite 'indoor' activities is having a fake snowball fight. We just open a package of cotton balls and go at it! They are cheap, so I'm okay with letting a bag go to waste! Plus, it provides some good entertainment! Or you could come here and play with us! We choose option B! ps. Loved the pics!
Loved the pic's. I enjoy the snow right up through the Christmas Holidays, and then I just want the sun to shine and the tempature to rise!
Some ideas for you....
My kids love to make a fort with a blanket and the card table. (My kids know it is special if I drag something from the basement:)
Sometimes we have a picnic in the Living Room. We throw down a blanket, pull out the paper plates, mix up a pitcher of kool-aid(my kids think koolaid is the best!) Sometimes we play games, sometimes we turn on a redbox movie...
My kids have loved making a fishing pond. Two chairs with a sheet thrown over, a broomstick, twine and a clothes pin. It's amazing how much fun the toys at the bottom of the toy box can be.
My kids love arts and crafts, so sometimes in bad weather I just grab all sorts of art supplies and lay them out on the table. They have come up with some pretty funny stuff. I just let them go at it. String, feathers, pompoms, glitter, watercolors etc.
Please post the results, it's supposed to snow here in few days, I would love to have some more ideas to keep my kids entertained.....
Krista,
I can't get over how cute your kids are! We should trade places for the weather, I guess we always want what we can't have right?!
yeah, i need a good list of snow/cold day activities too. I am definitely a warm weather person. My kids must be too, becuase they will aske me if they are staying home before getting ready, adn if they are they put on shorts and t-shirts. Enjoy the snow, there will be much more to come!
Hey Krista,
Your family is so sweet! I do NOT miss those winters. Are you enjoying it there? Hey, what ward are you in there? Just curious if you might know some our old friends. It's good to see that you are doing well.
Katie
Hey Krista!! Glad to find you! Hey our home is always open if you and Chase ever want to go to the temple; we'll watch your kids for you. We have an extra bedroom too if you want to stay! The "snow" scene looks all too familiar. We got about a foot the other day. BTW, my little 2 year old ONLY eats snow when he goes out to play; gotta love it right?!?! At least it isn't yellow snow. Glad you're doing well.
